Question: Where will this Recreation Outreach Center be located on the FBC campus?
Answer: The Rec Center will be where the bluish gray Tillman house now sits next to the Children’s building. The building will be situated perpendicular to Central Ave.
Question: What will the building be used for?
Answer: The building will be used for a wide variety of recreational activities. It would be used by our Foundations Early Learning Center on a weekday basis for certain play times, especially in the hotter months when the playground might be unenjoyable due to the heat. It will be used for a variety of Upward Sports leagues for children including basketball, cheer, volleyball and possibly more. It will be used by youth on Wednesday afternoon and evenings for recreational activities, as well as for special events like 5th Quarters and Invasion. It could also be used by young people for sports leagues for their age group. It could be used by adults for exercise classes, Pickle Ball, for sports leagues like basketball and volleyball, for Open Gym nights and more. It could help us expand Night to Shine and give us the option of indoor recreation during VBS or other events in the event of extreme heat or rain.
Question: Why not just keep paying rent to use the Activity Center at the Presbyterian Church?
Answer: Because they own that gym, and they can forbid or restrict our usage at any time. They can also raise the rental costs whenever they want. Already we have limited our usage to the bare minimum out of fear if we ask to use it too often, they may grow weary of our requests. Consequently, we can only do a minimal amount of recreational ministry.
Question: What would be the cost to build a Recreational Outreach Center (ROC) that would fulfill our vision and meet our needs?
Answer: After considering several possible designs the Exploratory team under the leadership of Pastor Scott has now settled on a very basic ROC. Drawings from an architect are completed. His design is customized to fit the footprint of land we have available. The current design does allow for possible expansion in the future. The estimated amount to complete the design we now have is $2 million dollars.
Question: When would construction of the FBC Rec Center begin?
Answer: There is no proposed date for construction. We are only seeking to begin a fund for the ROC that people could give toward as the Lord leads them.
Question: How will we raise the $2 million dollars needed?
Answer: We will not raise it. We are looking, in faith, for God to provide it by whatever means he chooses. We know that it will primarily be through the people of FBC who choose to give generously and sacrificially. Our giving will be done through First fruits Offerings (one-time best gift), systematic giving from personal cashflow (pledges), and sacrificial gifts from assets like property, vehicles, boats, equipment, stocks, bonds, etc. Members are welcome to invite those outside of the church family to also give from their own resources or to seek to procure funds from foundations or grants.
Question: Why should I not keep the funds I want to give in my own account where I am making interest until construction is ready to begin?
Answer: Any monies you give to this account will be placed in high-yield funds until construction begins. They will bearing interest and growing. Plus, we cannot know when we can consider beginning construction until we know what people are willing to give.
Question: What happens to my donation if the Recreational Outreach Center (ROC) is never built?
Answer: The church cannot spend or re-assign your donation for anything else without the express consent of the giver. Therefore, if for any reason, FBC does not build the ROC, each giver will contacted about their wishes regarding their contributions.
